If I Want to Win, I Have to be #2: Part 1

We were brought up believing that being number one is the gold standard of everything we do. “If you’re not first, you’re last.” Right? Wrong. When walking this walk of Christ, following behind Him in His footsteps, we have to give up that first seat and be content with the second one. Why? Well for three reasons. We’ll discuss reason #1 here and the other two reasons in a “Part 2” and “Part 3” post. Reason #1: “Whosoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” -Mark 8:34. To truly lay down and surrender our lives to Christ means to deny ourselves and follow Him. We have to deny that “I’m Number 1!” attitude. We have to deny ourselves of that and walk in humility giving Jesus that supreme reign over our lives, the number 1 seat. We have to get up from that seat and say, “God, I don’t know, I don’t have the answers, I don’t know how to run my own life. Reign over me. YOU order my steps, and I’ll follow.” We can’t be number 1 in our lives. We have to become number 2, second to Jesus. When we do, we win everything else inevitably. Seek FIRST the kingdom of God and ALL else will follow (Luke 12:31). “So you mean to tell me if I seek God in all I do, actively giving Him that Number 1 spot, the money will follow? The marriage will follow? The career will follow? The business will follow? The children will follow? Every desire of my heart will follow?” YES! Luke 12:32 tells us that it is God’s pleasure to give us the kingdom! It’s what He takes delight in! So give God that number one spot, THEN you win….the kingdom that is! Check out Parts 2 and 3 for the rest of this word! Lessons and Blessings Family!
